This was an emotional talk for me…and I can see all the flaws…but there are 2 I want to clarify as my nerves made me forget a couple of words and it changed the context of the talk
A no NOT meaning no again…we need to stop business as usual practices that make a person feel like they are not being heard and that their no is meaningless
Yes, we can expect things from our employees - but we must stop expecting and rewarding fawning behaviors, workaholism, chronic people pleasing and more.
I hope regardless of where things were not perfect, that the message of the need for trauma-informed, psychologically safe workplaces was heard, felt, and acted upon.
